Crown of Sang Nila

Commissioned by Temasek Chorale for the Singapore Youth Festival, “The Crown of Sang Nila” is a compelling choral work that tells the story of the discovery of Singapore by Sang Nila Utama. The piece beautifully captures the drama of the voyage, including the moment when his ship was trapped in a storm, before eventually arriving at the new-found land. Written for advanced treble voices, the composition also features a small percussion ensemble and double bass, adding depth and texture to the performance.
